창간12주년, 통권 50호 맞이한 독립잡지 <싱클레어>의 기념 프로젝트 

 아트선재센터는 2011 라운지 프로젝트의 네 번째 프로그램으로 독립잡지 <싱클레어>를 초대한다. 싱클레어는 “당신에게 한 페이지가 주어진다면”을 모토로 개인작업자들의 기고를 중심으로 발간하는 독립문화잡지이다. 2000년에 창간한 이 잡지는 올해로 창간 12주년을 맞이 했으며, 통권 50호를 발간하였다. 이번 2011 라운지 프로젝트 #4: 싱클레어, “당신에게 한 페이지가 주어진다면,”에서는 <싱클레어>의 지난 표지와 본문에 수록된 원고의 원본들을 선보이며 토크와 공연 등의 다양한 프로그램을 통해 독립출판물을 소개한다.

  아트선재센터는 2011 라운지 프로젝트의 세 번째 프로그램으로 강성은의 드로잉 전을 선보인다. 작가는 주로 자신이 사는 동네의 집이나 골목길을 먹으로 그리는 작업을 해온 바 있다. 이번 <2011 라운지 프로젝트: #3 강성은>에서는 산과 들, 도시의 밤 풍경을 담은 작가의 연필 드로잉 작업을 소개한다.

  

밤 풍경(nightscape)을 소재로 하는 연필 드로잉(pencil drawing)

Nightscape

연필을 재료로 밤이나 새벽의 모습을 그린 드로잉 작업은 작가의 여정을 담은 기록의 산물이다. 이 여정은 드로잉 작업을 위해 계획된 여행인 동시에 일상의 시간을 포함한다. 작가는 강화도 마니산, 스키장, 고속도로를 달리는 중에 보이는 커다란 구조물이나 사물에 관심을 두고 그 모습을 드로잉으로 담는다. 그리고 자신의 여정과 감정들을 간단하게 기록한다. 특히, 가로 3m 이상의 파노라마 형식으로 선보이는 이태원의 야경은 이번 라운지 프로젝트를 위해 제작된 작가의 새로운 작업이다.  

Pencil Drawing

본래 작가는 엷은 먹으로 얇게 선으로 집들의 모습을 그려왔다. 작가가 드로잉 작업을 위해 선택한 연필은 밝음부터 어두움을 확연하게 드러내주는 도구이며, 작가의 시선을 좁은 골목길의 집들에서 도시의 거리 또는 산으로 멀리 옮기게 한 움직임의 원동력이기도 하다. 또한 자신의 감정을 표현하는 친숙한 도구이다. 아트선재센터 라운지에서는 자신의 감성을 연필로 구현한 강성은의 드로잉 작품들을 자유롭게 감상할 수 있다.
